Since hosting our first hobby retreat in 1991 we have become a specialized hobby retreat destination. Our venue is welcoming and unique in all that it offers. Accommodation, meals and work space area are all under one roof. We have king, queen and twin beds to suit the needs of any group. Retreaters return year after year because Brentwood on the Beach has become their ‘home away from home.’
The energy that you draw from the lake and sky inspires creativity and replenishes the soul.
What our guests have to say...
"A relaxing atmosphere, comfortable rooms and delicious food. What more could you ask for? Well next year we will be adding a night to our stay because we love it at Brentwood on the Beach and the quiet time we get to knit, read, and walk on the beach. And to add to our enjoyment are the evenings with the authors learning about writing books and meeting the people who do. We look forward to our knitting weekend retreat. We only wish it were longer."
"Another wonderful weekend to enjoy learning about knitting and Book Clubs. Thanks for the hospitality"

This year at our Celebration of Books 'n Needles we have a new slant on our Authors' Event.
On Friday evening March 28, 2014 Karen Stewart, Chair of the Steering Committee of The Alice Munro Writers and Readers Festival joined us to share information about unique literary events and to brag about Huron County's own Alice Munro and how we were celebrating the extra-ordinary work of this Nobel Prize Winner in 2014 and into the future.
By bringing the like-minded together to share thoughts, explore ideas and witness stimulating conversations, this North Huron Festival provides opportunities for emerging writers and avid readers.
Over the Christmas holidays Peter and I were in bookshops in both Germany and Holland and were thrilled to see Alice Munro's books front and centre in both German and Dutch. Alice now lives with her daughter on Vancouver Island after a lifetime in Huron County.
We will have guest authors and illustrators speak about their projects and passions.
Bonnie Hogarth Sitter’s great-grandfather, Septimus Hogarth, settled in Stephen Township in 1849 and she is the fourth generation of the Hogarth family to appreciate the beauty and the bounty of Huron County, She lived for 20 years in Deep River, Ontario before returning to her birthplace in Exeter. Since retiring, after more than 40 years in the travel industry, she has become interested in photography and spends time exploring Huron Country with her husband Conrad and with friends.
A passion for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing has led to winter becoming Bonnie’s favourite time for photography. Her love of trees and all things in the natural world are evident in her photography. Bonnie was a contributor to the book The Beauty & Bounty of Huron County
